THE HOLY SPIRIT

Sue O'Donnell. 22.09.20

“I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord...that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection...” (Philippians 3 v 8, 10)

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of love.

That is why He is an excellent Teacher.

The Holy Spirit enlightens the sacred Scriptures,

Showing us how the truth therein

Applies to us personally, often in a specific way.

By this our life is transformed.

We see faith as an outpouring of God’s grace,

His sure blessing upon us offered through Christ Jesus.

The Holy Spirit enables us to meet with Jesus,

To learn who He is as our very own Saviour,

The One who died on the †for our forgiveness,

Rising to new life to ever remain with us.

Jesus is the love of God manifest.

The Holy Spirit sharing in holy love’s perfection,

Is to be the hoped for connection, sought in prayer,

As we seek to share in the love of Jesus.

Christ Jesus is new life to us, Spirit brought

And Spirit taught, because here is true love,

Ever active, ever effective, always attractive.

The Spirit is our wisest Counsellor,

Advising us to give our life to the Lord Jesus.

Conversion is the resolution to all that faces us,

Be it predicament, challenge or confrontation.

Conversion can take us in an entirely new direction,

According to the way of life Jesus opens out for us.

Conversion to following the life of Jesus, adhering to Him,

Invites us to experience our Father’s love for us,

In a depth of friendship both exciting and rewarding.

In this love empowering, godly relationship,

The Holy Spirit ignites our faith daily,

Captures our mind and heart increasingly,

Enabling us to be creative in our love through Jesus.

This is a love for our Father,

Shown by the love we show to each other.

This is the path of life the Spirit leads us upon.

Pure loving kindness which is steadfast has been named

And is ever to be claimed in life’s purpose shaped in Jesus.

“You, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude v 20, 21)

“And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others serve with fear...” (Jude v 22, 23)

Please pray so as to live according to the Spirit of love always directing our attention towards Jesus as Lord, Saviour and Master, the enduring, living Word of God. For then we will be enabled to say: “Now to Him who is able to prevent us from stumbling and who can, with joy, present us perfect in His glorious Presence, to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, might and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord throughout all ages, now and forever. Amen! It shall be so!” (based on Jude v 24, 25)
